Of Burke, Virginia, passed away on 18 December 2020. He was 92. The cause of death was due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was a career Senior Executive, a retired US Army Colonel, and a noted Defense Analyst.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Anne Touchstone Brinkerhoff. He is also survived by four children from his first marriage: Gayle, Carrol, John, Jr., and Robert Brinkerhoff, and four step-children: Christopher, Nancy, Peter, and Pamela, 13 grand-children, and 12 great grand-children.

John R. Brinkerhoff graduated from West Point in the Class of 1950 and spent 24 years on active duty in the Army, retiring in 1974 with the rank of Colonel. He joined the Civil Service and was for nine years a career Senior Executive in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. After leaving Government in 1983, he became a National Security Consultant, spending twenty years as an adjunct research staff member of the Institute for Defense Analyses. He has written two books and numerous articles and reports. Funeral Services at Fort Myer and interment at Arlington National Cemetery will occur at a future date.
