Robert C. Schroeder, 86, of Hebron, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 while in the company of family members, at his residence.

He was born in Hebron, IL on October 12, 1934, a son of the late Clarence and Pearl (Oglesby) Schroeder.

On March 17, 1956, he was married to Barbara Stone in Marengo and she died Aug. 18, 2016.

A graduate of Alden-Hebron High School in 1952, he was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church.

He was the manager of Hebron Lumber from 1959 until retiring in 2013.

He served as trustee and chief of the Alden-Hebron-Greenwood Fire Dept from 1959 to 1999. He was an umpire and coach for Little League and served as building inspector for the Village of Hebron. He was a former member of the JayCees.

He loved to play pickleball, bowling and softball when wintering in Sebring, FL for 20 years. Hunting and fishing were his pastimes along with following the Chicago Blackhawks. In later years, he was an avid reader.

Robert is survived by a daughter, Sherry (Dick Ackerman) Schroeder-Hayes, of Hebron; two sons Aaron (Kathy) Schroeder and Darryl Schroeder, both of Hebron; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded by a son David C. Schroeder, two sisters Lois Coulman and Shirley Ihrke and two brothers Howard and George.

There will be a drive by visitation Sunday Jan. 3, 2021 from Noon to 1:30 p.m. at Hebron Fire Dept, 12302 IL Route 173. Graveside services at Linn-Hebron Cemetery, Hebron, will follow with Pastor David Gaddini officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District PO Box 345 Hebron, IL 60034 or Hebron Public Library 9908 St. Albans St Hebron, IL 60034.
