Carrie was the daughter of Charlie Gaines Sr and Lula Mae Gaines. She was educated in the Wilcox County School System and was a Class of 1971 graduate of Excelsior High School in Rochelle, Georgia. She enjoyed cooking and gardening and traveling. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by 1 son, Jonathan Gaines and 3 brothers, Joe Louis Gaines, Charlie Gaines Jr and Robert Adams and 1 sister-in-law, Doretha Gaines.

2 Daughters: Stephanie L. Gaines-Vereen and Felecia Gaines.
1 Son: Michael A. Gaines(Shalonda).
1 Brother: Willie George Gaines.
1 Aunt: Martha Ruth Westbrook.
10 Grandchildren: Deontae Robinson, Dovosie Jones, Adaisha Jones, Jakeria Ray, Shirya Vereen, Myren Vereen, Amairyah Vereen, Jaidyn Vereen, Andrea Vereen and Grayson Berry.

Graveside services were held Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 11AM in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in the Hatley Community of Cordele, Georgia with Rev Isaac H. Owens officiating.
