Graveside service will be 12 noon, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Northwest La. Veteran Cemetery. Open visitation will be from 11 to 4 p.m. Monday at Heavenly Gates.

Arthur Gene Thompson was born November 2, 1953 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the union of Josephus Thompson and Rosie Lee English Thompson.

Mr. Thompson confessed Christ at an early age, and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and Providence Baptist Church. He graduated from Benton High School in 1971 and enlisted in the United States Navy. Mr. Thompson served from 1972-1976 and was honorably discharged, and enrolled in Louisiana State University – Shreveport.

Having acquired welding skills while in the Navy, Mr. Thompson started his own welding business. He was best known for making steel-barrel barbecue pits. In addition to welding, Mr. Thompson enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and family gatherings.

God called Mr. Thompson home Sunday, December 27, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josephus and Rosie Lee Thompson; brother John Calvin Thompson, brother-in-law Paul Agboola, and niece Sandra Little. He leaves to cherish sisters: Gloriastene Thompson Agboola of Ibadan, Nigeria; Java Thompson Jenkins of Kansas City, MO; Cathleen Thompson Johnson (Garfield) of Shreveport; Loraine Thompson of Green Bay, WI; brothers: Walter Thompson of Benton; Roy Lee "Russell" Thompson (Margaret) of Shreveport; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
