Thomason – Richard “Butch” Felix Thomason, age 85, of Brooker, Florida passed away on December 24, 2020 at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. Butch was born in Homestead, Florida on July 1, 1935 to the late Cecil Thomason and Juanita Ortley Thomason. He grew up and was raised in Homestead. Shortly after school, Butch joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country during the Korean War. In 1955, Butch was honorably discharged from the military and met the love of his life, Yvonne. They were happily married on August 13, 1955 and enjoyed 53 amazing years together. Butch and Yvonne lived in Jacksonville and Gainesville for years. They made Brooker their home in 1974. Butch was an automobile mechanic and learned his carpentry skills while working in the Union. He enjoyed his longtime career in the construction industry as a Carpenter and dedicated 32 years at Charles Perry Construction. Butch loved fishing and woodworking, but his main passion was his family. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. Butch was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Yvonne Thomason; daughter, Debbie Lynn Thomason; 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Butch is survived by his loving children, Richard (Roxanne) Thomason of Alachua, FL, Bill (Connie) Thomason and Patty (Tony) Dach both of High Springs, FL, Connie (Greg) Plasters of Keystone Heights, FL, and Tammy (Bobby) Adams of Brooker, FL; grandchildren, Dean Thomason, Brent Thomason, Sabrina (Walde) Sanchez, Jennifer (Gary) Eagle, Sarah Lefevers, Brittany Lefevers, John Isaac Lefevers, Ashley Cruce, Robby (Ashley) Cruce, Dylan Durrance, Macy Adams, and Madison Adams; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great - great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Buttons.
A Graveside Celebration of Butch’s Life will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Long Branch Cemetery with Brother John Frampton officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services and Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel, Starke, Fl. 904-964-5757.
