John Wesley Atkins, 87, of Candler, passed away on Tuesday, December 29th at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
John was born in Surry County, NC on October 17, 1933 to the late Henry D. Atkins and Alma Whitt. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Ilene Lewis Atkins, a grandson, Wesley Alan Atkins, and by four brothers, Bill, Pete, Roy and Ray.
John is survived by his sons John Edward Atkins (Pat) of Candler and Robert Anthony Atkins (Tricia) of Weaverville. He is also survived by his siblings, Paul, Charles, Jim, Ila and Faye.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 2, 2021, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at Madison Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm in the Ramsey Cemetery.
