Ruby Duckworth Simmons, born in Pickens County on 8/12/1926 to the late George and Otis Burgess Duckworth, or Mema, as she was lovingly referred to by her 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, went to be with the Lord on 12/29/2020.

Ruby is survived by her four children; Jean Pennington (Ken), Lloyd Jack Simmons (Ginger), John Simmons (Carol) and Janet Osborne.

She was predeceased by brothers; James, Dewey and Edrew Duckworth and sisters; Ruth Barnett and Francis Burgess Tompkins.

Ruby was a woman who loved the Lord. She was a longtime member of Landmark Baptist Church, Greenville SC. She loved her family and her late husband Lloyd Benjamin (Deceased 2007). Ruby was truly a force of nature that left everyone she met better for having known her. Her infectious spirit and quick wit were well known amongst her loved ones. No one could entertain quite like Ruby. She had a strong affinity for vanilla ice cream, Kit Kat bars, marshmallows and chocolate covered cherries. She loved to listen to Conway Twitty and old time hymns.

We will miss her smile, her soft hands and warm hugs, but we comfort knowing she's been reunited with her love and is now resting in the arms of our Savior. Until we meet her again, we will smile and reflect upon her incredible life and enduring legacy.

Entombment in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
