Sulleta Elizabeth (Lambright) French, 94, of Dawson, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Brushie Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Sulleta was born Dec. 28, 1915, in Salmon to Joseph and Addie Mae Price. She had six siblings: Anna "Sis," Mae, Albert, Leo, Rosa and Robert "Son." Sulleta's father passed away young and her mother remarried. From that marriage Sulleta has two half-sisters (Gin and Lou) and a step-brother (also named Robert). On June 1, 1935, she married Leonard Joseph "Buster" French in Palestine. However, they soon moved to Spring Hill where they raised their three children: Ruth, Howard and Ted. Her children lovingly gave her the nickname of "Bubba" that all the family now know her as. After 47 years of marriage, Buster preceded her in death Oct. 16, 1982.

Sulleta lived in the community of Spring Hill for more than 60 years. She worked at the Adams Hat Factory in Corsicana until she retired. She was a member of Navarro Mills Baptist Church. She enjoyed raising flowers, reading and writing letters to all of her family. She would never forget a birthday and would ensure everyone received a card from her. She was a remarkable seamstress and she often made everyone in her family presents. She made numerous quilts, dolls, decorative pillows and clothes. It thrilled her for a special request. She also had a love for dolls and collected them for numerous years. She would sew their clothes and on occasion she even made her own dolls. Sulleta was extremely close to her sisters and they all made it a priority to spend as much time together as possible. She was very devoted to all of her family and friends. She loved receiving unexpected visitors and relished in being able to offer them a home cooked meal. Her last words to everyone would always be "I love you" and "come back to see me."

Sulleta was preceded in death by her husband, Buster; sons, Howard and Ted; grandson, Joe; great-grandson, Seth; and seven of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth; granddaughters, Sandy and husband Gary, Codie and husband Terry, Tambre and Lisa; grandsons Paul David and wife Paula and Howard Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and her sisters, Gin and Lou.
