Gerald G. Robertson, 94, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 25, 2020. He was preceded by his parents, John W. and Jane Price Robertson; wife, Lola Keith Robertson; daughters, Teresa Diane Webb and Donna Sue Thomas; sons, Michael Gerald and David Wayne Robertson; brothers, Aubrey, Irvin, Stan, and O'dell Robertson; and sisters, Ramona Kegley, and Dolores Robertson.

Gerald proudly served his country during World War II. He entered the war in Vilsek, Germany as a replacement and fought under General Patton in France and Germany. He served as a Dispatcher/Clerk with the 4th Army Infantry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery. He retired from the N & W Railway where he served as a union committee man. Gerald was proud to have been a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than fifty years.

Surviving are his daughter, Jane (Bob) Whitlow; adopted daughter and granddaughter, Diane (Sam) Eakin; grandchildren, Scott (Michi) Wimmer, Chris (Loretta) Wimmer, Angela (David) Janney, Allison (Mark) Mullins; great grandchildren, Wesley Wimmer, Hunter and Katie Wimmer, Savannah, Wally and Robert Janney, Courtney Whitlow, Levi and Lola Mullins, and Grace Eakin; sister, Bettie (John) Hale; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer a very special thank you to the staff at the Virginia Veterans Care Center for their many acts of kindness and compassion.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Virginia Veterans Care Center 4500 Shenandoah Avenue Roanoke, Va 24017.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, VA with Pastor Danny Quirin officiating.
