Johnnie was the son of John Henry Blanks and Clara Colbert Lewis. He was educated in the Crisp County School System. He was employed with Cannon Farms in Cordele, Georgia until his health prevented him from working. He enjoyed watching television, especially The Andy Griffith Show. He was a member of Beulahland Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by 1 son, Octavius Lewis Manning, Step-Father, Z.D. Lewis, his maternal grandparents, J. C. Colbert and Della Sipp Colbert, His Companion, Reginia Manning, 3 sisters, Queen Troup, Ora Bell Morgan and Johnnie Hoskins and 3 brothers, Fred Taylor, Larry Lewis and Jesse Blanks Sr.

2 Sisters: Pastor Rosa Sanford(Elder Billy Wayne) and Elnora Cross.
