“Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Robinson-Singleton was born August 11th, 1947 to the late Perry Wayne Robinson, Sr. and Idella Collier Robinson in Jackson, MS. She was baptized and raised up in New Hope Baptist Church and attended Jackson public schools, graduating from Lanier High School In 1965 and later received her Bachelor's Degree in English literature from the illustrious Tougaloo College in 1969. And through her husband Derek she became an associate Life Member of the Florida A & M University National Alumni Association (FAMU NAA). She retired from the An Communications system after more than 25 years. After retiring, she continued to work in Retail Sales until health issues caused her to have to quit working. But her most cherished job was that of being a mother to her only daughter; Lisa; whom she affectionately called "babv girl".

“Later in life she met and married Derek Singleton, her doting and loving husband in September of 2010.

“For many years Mary was interested in Catholicism to which she converted to after marrying Derek and later joined Christ The King Catholic Church, where she was a devoted member until her transition.

“During her later years despite her failing health, Mary enjoyed doing crafts, gardening, flowers, cooking and shopping. She also loved helping others including serving as a wedding coordinator, and working on special projects at church.

“Mary and Derek are the godparents to Anthony Randolph of Memphis, TN and are the adoptive grandparents to the Asowata family of Christ the King Catholic Church.

“Preceding her in death was her father Perry, and her sister, Linda Carol Robinson, Esq.

“Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Derek Singleton of Jackson, MS; mother, Idella C. Robinson of Jackson, MS; daughter, Lisa Henry Harper of Dallas, TX; one step-daughter, Marla Singleton of Jackson, MS; two brothers: Perry W. Robinson, Jr. of Jackson, MS; and Anthony Robinson of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Malaika Robinson-Ayers (Xavier, Sr) of Jackson, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.”
