AGE 71 YEARS
Joseph L. Callahan of Woburn, passed away, December 20, 2020, at the Bayberry Assisted living Facility in Tewksbury. Joseph was the beloved husband of Dolores M. (Petroni) Callahan and together they shared 42 years of marriage. Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Mary R. (Lee) Callahan.
Joseph was raised and educated in Somerville and was a graduate of the former St. Mary High School in Cambridge. He was a proud United States Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War and honorably served from 1968 to 1972 attaining the rank of Sergeant. He completed his reservist obligation in 1974. Joseph worked for over thirty years as a Postal Clerk with the United States Postal Service spending most of his career in Lexington. He retired in 2009.
Joseph was avid sports fan and for many years he enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball. He loved to spend time with his family in New Hampshire at Lake Winnipesaukee and also loved animals and caring for his pets. Joseph's greatest joy was his family and he will be fondly be remembered for his unconditional love and devotion to his family.
Devoted father of Joseph Callahan, III of Woburn, Jeffrey Callahan of North Reading, and Jordan Callahan of Woburn. Brother of the late Maureen Mulally, formerly of Medford. Cherished nephew of Cecilia Pratt of Dorchester and further survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, Tuesday, January 5th, at 10 a.m.
Services with military honors and burial at the MA National Cemetery, Bourne,
