Ethel Mae Jones, 94 of Elwood, formerly of Lexington passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the Elwood Care Center.

She was born February 22, 1926 in Plainview, Nebraska to James W. and Adeline (Homolka) Butts. She graduated from Chambers High school with the class 0f 1944. She was united in marriage to Leon E. “Jack” Jones on October 13, 1945 in Chambers, Jack preceded her in death on November 1, 2012. To this union four children were born: Sharon, Larry, Vickey and Brad. The family moved to Lexington in 1951. The family moved around in Nebraska settling back to Lexington in 1966.

Ethel worked at the Green Valley Motel in Lexington for several years, cleaning rooms. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Lexington.

She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, card playing, dancing and she and Jack were well known in Lexington for their decorations they put outside of their home for the different holidays. Ethel loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son; Brad and wife Bernadette of Kearney, daughter; Vickey and husband Frank Koehn of Johnson Lake, brother; James and wife Mary Lou Butts, of O’Neill, bother-in-law; Bob and wife Neva Jones of O’Neill, sisters-in-law; Earleen and husband Tom Moroney of Grand Island, Shirley Noble of South Sioux City, ten grandchildren and seven-teen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter; Sharon Nelson, son; Larry Jones, Granddaughter, Stacey Nelson, brother; Orin Butts, sisters; Mary Lou Bly, Mardell Heorle and son-in-law Harley Nelson.
