Jimmie Allen Palmer, age 79, of Collinsville, IL, born January 23, 1941 in Collinsville, died on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Mercy Hospital from COVID-related complications.
Jimmie worked in construction as a carpenter millwright and was retired. He was an avid golfer (even getting a hole in one), a "car guy" who still drove a beautiful blue Challenger, and he could fix just about anything. He was very proud of his family's Tennessee heritage. He was a bargain hunter who was always looking for that "sweet" deal that would make him a million. The sweetest deal he ever got was his wife, Jackie. Together they raised their four children and filled their retirement years with family, friends, love, laughter and, of course, cars and bargains. The family would like to give a shout out to his second family at Pawn King in Collinsville, where he made his daily visits to his "office." Thank you all for loving him, too.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Vernon and Mary Elizabeth (nee Turner) Palmer.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" (nee Conway) Palmer, whom he married on December 13, 1958; a son, Jay (Linda) Palmer of Troy, IL; three daughters: Kelly (Tony) Caminiti and Kris (Bob) Davis of Collinsville, IL, and Kathy (Andre) Sullivan of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren: Nick, Alex, Melissa, Brooke, and Lacey; five great-grandchildren: Austin, Ashton, Libby, Mia, and Ava; a brother, David Palmer of Mt. Olive, IL; a sister, Patricia Black of St. Jacob, IL; and his dog, Gracie.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Mercy Foundation and may be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville IL 62062.
