Robert Nathaniel "Bobby" Pritchett, 85, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from brain cancer.
Bobby was born on January 22, 1935 in Dalton, Georgia to the late Robert and Nellie Pritchett, and spent a majority of his youth in Cleveland, Tennessee. He always said that he wasn't born in Texas; but got here as quick as possible to pursue his dream of being a cowboy. After arriving in Texas, he soon met the love of his life, Carolyn Prescott. They were married for over 55 years and had four children. Together they enjoyed their family, traveling, trips to their condos in Port Aransas, collecting seashells, shore fishing and socializing with friends from childhood. Bobby and Carolyn were members of First Baptist Church of Lakeside. His hobbies included tending to his farm animals, gardening, lawn work, watching old westerns and "tinkering" in his shop. He enjoyed country music and anything pertaining to the cowboy way of life.
Bobby's career of service began at the age of 17 and the National Guard, he was later employed with Texas Electric Service Co. and eleven years as a switchman with T & P Railroad. In 1962 Bobby joined the Fort Worth Police Department Reserve Unit, in 1969 he joined the Azle Police Department until 1974 when he moved to Westover Hills Police Department where he retired as a Captain in 1998. During his career in law enforcement he received many certificates of service, participated in community projects and assisted in training new officers. At the age of 79, his passion for law enforcement continued by joining the Lake Worth Police Department Auxiliary Citizens of Patrol. He was an active participant until the group disbanded last year.
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; his parents; sister, Arlie Jean McDowell; brother Stephen Pritchett and his loving Uncle John and Aunt Lola Pritchett.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law: Kay and Mike Rollins, LeeAnn and Jeff Thomas, Andrea & Steve Layne; Son and Daughter-in-Law, Wade and Leah Pritchett; Grandchildren, Ryan Rollins (Crystal), Landon Rollins (Kim) Kristyn Butler, Katelyn Rollins, Jayden Rollins, Meghann Rutledge (Garrett), Gabrielle Boyd (Breck), Eric Robinson (Amber) Chad Robinson (Amber) and Joshua Pritchett (Jessica); 22 great grandchildren; brothers, Ronald Pritchett, Richard Pritchett and wife Gloria; sisters, Mavis McCoy and husband Ron, and Jerri Pritchett; Brother-in-Law, Jim Lewis; Sisters-in-Law, Vicki Lewis and Norma Garland; Special Loving Friend, Gail Cribbs.
