Benny was born on January 3, 1952, in Atlanta, GA to Benny and Roberta (Thompson) Anderson. He was a stellar athlete, a quick wit, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Benny had many passions--he loved dogs, Little Debbie snack cakes, Larry Byrd, and Coca-Cola. He loved steak, mashed potatoes, strawberry ice cream, and his only daughter, Brittney.
Benny graduated from Osborne High School in 1970, and at just 5’10” tall, he was offered a basketball scholarship to the University of Montevallo in Alabama. While he was proud of his time in college, he most enjoyed carpentry and wood working. He spent many years framing houses with his coach and dear friend, Ronnie Early, but for the last 20 years, he installed security systems for ADT and Tyco.
Benny was preceded in death by his father Benny Paul Anderson, Sr., his mother Roberta, and his brother Danny. He is survived by his daughter Brittney (Travis) Spilker, his grandsons Jacob and Benjamin, his sister Roslyn Hopkins, his brothers Bill and David Anderson, his nieces Erin and Chandler Hopkins, his nephew Kerry Anderson, his wife Kathy Anderson, his stepson Micah Moore, and Micah’s son Ryder. A Memorial Service will be held at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, GA on January 2, 2021, 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. www.cancer.org/involved/donate
