Harold K. Lawrence, 98, of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 at a local care facility.

A graveside service with military honors will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Harold was born November 12, 1922 in Westfield, IA to William and Chloe (Harrison) Lawrence. He attended school in Westfield and graduated in 1939. Following graduation, Harold enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the Navy for 28 years and was aboard many ships in his time. He moved up the ranks quickly to the top enlisted rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Following his retirement, he worked for a veterinarian’s supply company. On June 22, 1974, he married Helena Joffer at First Presbyterian Church in Sioux City.

Harold was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed traveling and talking about his travels, attending ship reunions, bowling at the Plaza Bowl, and playing cards with his nieces, nephews, and father.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 46 years, Helena Lawrence of Sioux City; nephews Robert (Karen) Huls of Spirit Lake, IA, and Jimmy Lawrence of Edding, Germany; nieces Judy Liles and Joanne Johnson of Sioux City, and Tracy Newman of Denver, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Evelyn Huls and Darlene Dunbar, and brother Jim Lawrence.
