As the backbone of her family, Jean was the epitome of a supportive wife. A true ray of hope to all that came in contact with her, Jean would provide light and love to all in her company.
Time spent in the garden was precious for Jean. Watering a seed and watching it grow into a beautiful plant was Jean’s way to commune with nature.
With a mind full of knowledge, Jean was able to entertain the most challenging thoughts. Always thinking deeply, her brilliance shone through in her conversations with others and through her writing. Though often quiet, any words that came from Jean were worth your paying attention.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate her life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow at Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery.
Jean is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Arthur Monroe Mitchell; daughter, LaNelle Epps and husband Jay of Fort Worth, Texas; and grandson, Caleb Mitchell Epps.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Eddie Strickland and Ronnie Strickland.
