Carol, a devoted Catholic, was a graduate of the Holly Family Academy of Bayonne and a parishioner of Saint Joseph Church in Carteret, peacefully passed away on December 23, 2020.
Carol was born in Bayonne and moved to Carteret to raise her family. Upon moving to Carteret in 1960, Carol was eager to participate in community activities as well as those of interest outside of the
community. As a PTA membership chair, she kept records of participants and sponsored fund raisers. She was the Recording and Corresponding Secretary of the Cornell Estates Civic Association. A Democratic District Leader, and three term President of the Woman's Club of Carteret. She belonged to the NJ State Federation of Woman's Clubs Past Presidents Club. Carol served as a historian, and Vice Regent and Fund Raiser Chairman for the Catholic Daughters and participated in the activities of the Knight's of Columbus Fourth Degree Ladies of Court Carey.
Carol honored her Irish heritage by her commitment to the West Orange Independent Irish Association as Secretary, and Publicity Chairman. She was active in the Giblin Association as Secretary. Carol was also a member of the John Cryan Association, the Irish Festival and ethnic dinner committee, and was a delegate to the Newark St. Patrick's Day Parade, she received countless awards and accolades for her endeavors.
Carol is predeceased by her husband of 65 years Francis James who she loved sharing winters in Florida and traveling the world with, her parents Madeline and John Pryor, her three sisters - Virginia Hobble, Catherine Knoeringer, and Loretta Murphy, her brothers: John, James, Joseph, Peter, and Paul, and her son in law Michael LaRusso.
Carol is survived by her brother Gerome, son Brian and his wife, Jane and their sons Douglas and Evan and grandson Cooper; daughter Mary Ellen and husband, John Ferraro; daughter Madeline LaRusso and her daughters Lindsey and Jenna and granddaughter, Emma; son Francis and wife Alicia and their children, Francis, Eliza and Maizie. They all loved her dearly and will miss her immensely.
Private funeral arrangements are through Rumpf Funeral Home, 21 Locust Street, Carteret. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway, NJ.
