Fred Freeman, II of Yorktown entered into eternity on Dec 27, 2020.
Fred was born in Arizona, on March 9, 1932. The birth and death of this great man, however, is not nearly as relevant as all the days and nights that he lived to the fullest of these two dates. He grew up in Kennett, Missouri with parents, John and Mable Massa and two wonderful brothers, Jerry and Jack.
He married Barbara Jean Whitehead on March, 5 1954. They were stationed in Germany before settling in Indiana after his honorable discharge from the Army. They had three boys, Danny (wife Deana), Tim and Freddie (wife Pam) they then chose to adopt Tilde (husband Charles), Sarah & Ryan. He retired from Miller Huggins after 40 + years.
He was a tireless community servant and volunteer for Maple Grove Church of God, Liberty Christian and many others. His family is blessed by the 52 years Fred and Barb were foster parents. It is estimated that 200 plus children called him Fred, Dad or Poppy. He enjoyed whistling, rocking babies, riding his lawnmower, watching John Wayne movies, basketball and doing anything his wife Barb asked him to do in the 63 years they were married.
Fred is survived by his six children, seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and brother Jack.
He is now reunited with his parents, his brother Jerry, and his beloved wife Barb, and two granddaughters.
You set the bar high Dad and we are Freeman proud. Well done good and faithful servant.
Due to COVID concerns there will be a small grave side service for family. At a later date we hope to have a Celebration of Life for his friends and family to attend.
