Karen P. Wright, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was born on July 12, 1954 to parents Martel and Phyllis Plott. She was the second of four children. She was surrounded by loved ones when she passed away Christmas Eve Day, December 24, 2020.
Karen graduated from Murray High School in 1972 and received an Associate’s degree from Salt Lake Community College in 1990 and later went on and received a degree in medical billing and coding from Utah Career College in 2010.
Karen was devoted to her work. She worked at United Way for 20 years. She went on to work at Turn Community as a job coach until she was no longer able to perform her duties due to dementia.
Karen was an amazing, selfless woman. She always put everyone before herself. She was kind beyond measure and lived life to the fullest. She impacted the lives of all who knew her. She enjoyed holidays and spending time with her loved ones. Her grandkids were the light of her life. She enjoyed taking them to Fourth of July parades, going on car rides, going to every school event for them and she always loved sleepovers with them.
Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She did Sub for Santa and the Festival of Trees for many years.
Karen was diagnosed with Dementia, Hydrocephalus and Transverse Myelitis in 2012. She fought a long, hard battle.
Survived by mother, Phyllis Plott; four children, Shane (Tiffany) Wright, Chantel (Jason) Combs, Travis (Trish) Wright, and Josh (Sarah) Wright; her 18 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kent, Allison and Clarke.
Preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Gladys Plott; Virgil and Ellen Swensen; father, Martel Plott; uncle Doyle Plott; sister-in-law Connie Plott; and daughter-in-law Cassie Wright.
The family would like to say thank you to everyone that has helped take care of her in the last year. We would also like to thank her nurses Jordan, Baylee, and Adam from Canyon Home Care and Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021, 12:00 noon, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah, where a viewing will be held prior from 11-11:45 a.m. Masks must be worn and social distancing must be followed. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
