Mary L. Schroeder, 91, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 22, 2020.

She was born on October 21, 1929 to Lloyd and Bertie Longley in Seymour, Texas. She was baptized on June 6, 1942 in a Baptist Church in Biloxi, MS.

She graduated from Wichita Falls High School on August 1, 1947. Mary and Herbert L. Schroeder were married September 25, 1949 at a Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, TX. Mary was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clara, TX in 1950. She was a bookkeeper for 20 years and a postmaster for the United States Postal Service at Boys Ranch for 21 years.

Mary was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Amarillo, TX, where she helped tie quilts and serve funeral dinners.

Mary’s favorite pastimes were sewing and quilting as long as she was able as well as reading and being with the family members.

She is survived by her daughters, Candy Schoppa and husband Ken of Lubbock and Susan Schroeder of Wichita Falls and her son, Steven Schroeder and wife Peggy Riehl of Chicago, IL. Mary is also survived by her granddaughters, Lori Hoffman and husband Rusty, Amanda Hunsaker and husband Daniel of Lubbock and Regina Schroeder of Boston, MA. She is also survived by her six great-grandchildren, Caleigh, Ashleigh, Colin Hoffman, Jordan, Eryn and Clara Hunsaker all of Lubbock, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Library of Legacies in Idalou, TX for the excellent care provided to Mary since June of 2019. The would also like to thank Texas Home Health Hospice for the comfort and care provided for Mary and her family during her last few days on earth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Amarillo, TX or to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch.
