Mary Jane Glass, age 85, of Pekin, passed away peacefully Friday, December 28, 2020 at UnityPoint Health - Methodist in Peoria, after a month-long battle with COVID-19.
Mary Jane was born on January 10, 1935, in Peoria to Edward and Anna (Roth) Stickling. She was a 1953 graduate of Academy of Our Lady High School in Peoria. She married Merle Kenneth Glass, Sr. on June 11, 1955 in Peoria. He died on June 10, 2004. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elizabeth Zarnicki; a brother, John Stickling; and a grandson, Logan Kenneth Glass.

She is survived by three sons: Ken (Sally) Glass of Wichita, Kansas, Tim (Janet) Glass of Pekin and Jim (Tracy) Glass of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Melissa (Adrian) Gonzales of Pekin, Courtney (Nick) Keleher of Powersite, Missouri, Abi (Joe) Wesley of Shorewood, Brigham Glass of Springfield, Missouri, Griffin (Trisha) Glass of Pekin, Gavin Glass of Pekin, Marek Glass of Wichita, Kansas and Tim Glass of Pekin; seven great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Glass and Shirley Lindsay of Metamora; and many loving nieces and nephews from the Peoria area and Indiana.

She was employed as a legal secretary for 31 years at Kavanagh, Scully, Sudow, White & Frederick, P.C., in downtown Peoria.

Mary Jane’s life centered around her deep Catholic faith. A long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, she was a member of the Catholic Council of Women, served as a Gift Bearer and Eucharistic Minister, served as a member of the Honor Guard at women’s funerals, volunteered at the church’s food pantry and church bake sales, and assisted with the counting of collections.

Mary Jane was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed greatly. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker for many years, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, helping and supporting others, and watching wholesome Hallmark movies. Mary Jane also enjoyed baking treats for her family throughout the years and was a life-long fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
