Ruby Mae (Dreibrodt) Gerken went to be with her Lord on December 27, 2020. Ruby Mae was born November 15, 1922 to Frieda (Albrecht) and Gustav Dreibrodt in the Rosenberg, Texas, community of Random. She was educated in Robert E. Lee Elementary and graduated from Rosenberg High School in 1941. On October 25, 1945, she and Albert Henry Gerken married in Frieden's Evangelical and Reformed Church in Beasley. They were happily married for 55 years, and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1995.

Albert preceded her in death August 30, 2000. Her parents; a sister, Louise Marie Gold; 3 brothers, Roy Henry, John Phillip, Bobbie Walter; and brother-in-law, Marvin Gold; sisters-in-law, Gladys Dreibrodt, Juanita Dreibrodt, also preceded her. Ruby Mae was a devoted wife and mother and a loving grandmother.

Ruby Mae is survived by Thomas Al (Tommy), her son, and wife, Dana; two grandchildren, Blake Thomas, wife Samantha, Blair Nicole, wife, Amanda; one great-grandchild, Tucker; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Ruby Mae was baptized in First Protestant Church in New Braunfels, confirmed in St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church at Cottonwood. After high school graduation she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator. She was a stay at home mom, volunteered as a room mother, and served as president for Needville Elementary P.T.A., employed by the State of Texas at the Richmond State School for 13 years, retiring in 1985, and then became a Real Estate Agent and Broker.

A member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Rosenberg, transferring to Immanuel UCC in 1962; served on the pulpit and memorial committees, consistory, a delegate several times of South Central Conference, Women's Guild and taught Sunday school. In the community: president of Needville American Legion #350 Auxiliary and a life member; also a life member of Veterans of Foreign wars, member and president of Needville Community Church women's group, volunteer to M.D. Anderson Hospital Patient's craft, AARP member and an officer, Woodmen of the World president and treasurer many times, Democratic Party Chair of Fort Bend County Precinct #1010, Member of Order of the Eastern Star in Rosenberg, Worthy Matron 1991-1992. She was an avid bridge player, as well as Canasta, "88" Domino and bingo.

Albert and Ruby built their home in Needville in 1990. They supported their grandchildren's school and sports activities.

A memorial service will be held for Albert and Ruby at a later date.
