Charles Edwin Willett, 90, of Fredericksburg passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Carriage Hill Health and Rehab Center. He was born on December 6, 1930 in Lauderdale County, Alabama to the late Clyde and Lola Willett.

Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Using the GI Bill, he attended college, graduating from Auburn University with a degree in Textile Engineering and earned a master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee. He worked for Tennessee Eastman Kodak Company for thirty years before retiring in 1985. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsport, TN, where he served as a Deacon, and is currently a member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church of Fredericksburg, also serving as a Deacon.

He was a tireless worker for those less fortunate than he, having worked with Habitat for Humanity in Kingsport, the Micah Ecumenical Ministries, and the Food Bank in Fredericksburg. He was a passionate rockhound during his adult years, also enjoying camping and photography. In later years, he was devoted to researching his family history, taking great pride and pleasure with each generation he discovered a link to. Willett, Jr., of Kansas City; daughter MaryAnn Litton (Michael) of Fredericksburg; four granddaughters, MaryElizabeth Bond (Slade), Nicole Le (Steven), Christine Hurla (Michael), and Samantha Willett; five great-grandchildren, Jackson and Eva Bond, Eddison and Milly Hurla, and Henry Le; and one sister Julia Carmichael (Sam).
