Adán Romero, age 85, gained his wings on December 25, 2020 due to complications from Covid-19.
Adán was born on August 1, 1935, to Lauriano and Candida Rael Romero in Adelino, NM, where he was raised with his brothers and sisters.
In April of 1954, Adán married his love, Carmel Sánchez Romero and became a resident of Jarales, NM.
Adán and Carmel shared 66 years of marriage and raised six children together, Lydia Castillo, Elizabeth Perea, Mary Ellen Chávez, Carmelina Gwilt, Mario Romero and Letitia Romero.
In Adán's younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball, having poker games, was a member of the National Guard, was a truck driver for Swartsman's meat packing and raised hogs in Los Trujillos, Jarales.
Adán was a charter member for the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge.
Adán and his wife, Carmel, were selected to be padrinos of the 1969 Our Lady of Belén Catholic Church fiestas. Adán had a generous spirit.
Adán loved his pets, his coffee and a cigarette, singing, dancing and was the best dang pool shark around! Adán taught all of his grandchildren how to play pool.
Adán had 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Adán was preceded in death by his parents, Lauriano and Candida Romero and his daughter, baby Mary Romero.
Adán is survived by his wife, Carmel and their six children, his five sons-in-law, in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A Graveside service will be held at Our Lady of Belén Memorial Gardens on January 8, 2021. Pallbearers are Mario Romero, Jonathan Castillo, Christopher Castillo, Adam Gómez/Azael Perea-Wright, Joseph Gabaldón, Michael Hawks, Zachary Combest and Alex Combest. Honorary Pallbearers are Leonard Castillo, Dale Perea, Kenny Barela, Gary Woo, Richard Gwilt, John Gonzáles, Brian DeTommaso, Jonathan Castillo Jr., Matthew Chávez, Joseph Gabaldón Jr., Brian Gabaldón and Kobe Gabaldón.
Adán was a cherished husband, father and grandpa. Adán will be so deeply missed, leaving his legacy of love. Our family will not be the same without him.
