Joan Carolyn Taylor, 76, of Bladenboro passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Duke University Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everette D. Milligan and Adine Jones Milligan, her husband, Eugene Taylor, two brothers, Gerald Milligan and McCrae Sykes, and three sisters: Evelyn Smith, Alda Muse, and Marie Hollingsworth. She leaves behind her son, Frankie Taylor (Jennifer) of Bladenboro; two daughters, Betty Britt (Ray) of Elizabethtown; and Renee Fonvielle (Charles) of Bladenboro, four grandchildren: Lindsey Dicicco (Brian), Austin Carroll (Katie), Chase Taylor and Lauren Taylor and four great grandchildren: Abigail, Eli, Emma and Waylon.
Joan was a loving Christian wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was her life, and she was happiest when surrounded by all of them. Joan enjoyed cooking and listening to Southern Gospel music. She was strong and independent, even in the last days; often sneaking out to make a trip to the grocery store. Her compassionate, loving spirit will not soon be forgotten.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:00 pm in Memory Lane Cemetery in Bladenboro. Rev. Dale Hester and Rev. Bobby Smith will be officiating. All attendees are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.
