James Lee Layton, age 88, of Buchanan, GA, passed away December 27, 2020.
He was born January 20, 1932, in Tallapoosa, GA, to the late Thomas Joseph and Anna Deese Layton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Arnette Layton; two sisters, Beatrice Watkins and Mildren Holden; and three brothers, William Layton, Arlin Layton, and Howard Layton.
He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Skipper Hughes and Tammy and Jeff McCrary; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Patricia Layton, all of Buchanan; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Darlene Bentley, of Muscadine, AL; five grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and John Moore, Jessica McCrary, Haley and Brett Tyler, Bryan Layton, and Nicole Bentley; six great grandchildren; a sister, Annie Lou Smith; and five brothers, Bobby Layton, Gary Layton, Curtis Layton, Hoyt Layton, and Kenneth Layton.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:00PM in the Miller Funeral Home Dogwood Chapel with Bro. Jeff Layton and Rev. Kenneth Layton officiating.
Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Curt Layton, Tommy Layton, Bryan Layton, George Wade, Michael Wade, and Anthony Cheatwood.
Interment will follow in Mt. Zion West Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00PM.
