Jerry Hopkins, 80, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020. Jerry started his life in the small town of Tetonia. He also lived in Driggs, Rexburg, Pocatello, and Great Falls, Montana. He received his associate’s degree from Ricks College in Electronics and picked up a teaching certificate in Montana. He loved and lived for his family. He was often found with his dad out by a lake or taking a long ride. Many happy hours were spent in the outdoors with his extended family on picnics and at family reunions. Often, he brought out the guitar for a bit of entertainment. Wherever he went or whatever he did, he always had his sweet companion by his side.

He married his sweetheart... twice. Jerry and Nola were wed April 27, 1963 and were later sealed for eternity in the Idaho Falls temple. The couple lived happily for 56 years until Nola's passing July 2019.

His early years were spent farming potatoes and working in the hay fields. He made a living during his young adulthood playing music while attending college. He worked in the sawmills in Montana for a short time but returned to Pocatello for a career with the telephone company.

He belonged to the Mountain Bell Pioneers and the local ELKS Club. He donated to many local organizations and was a member of the National Guard.

He was an active member of the LDS church and resided in the Pocatello West Stake.

He loved to hunt, fish, collect stamps and coins, and most of all playing music. He enjoyed socializing. Jerry was always in his car. He loved to take both long and short rides. In his retirement, he split his year between Arizona/Nevada and Idaho for 28 years.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Debbie McKee of Chubbuck, ID, Kita Maravilla of Pocatello, ID, and Shawna Jessen of Logandale, NV; sisters, Mary Ann Hansen of Plamer, WA and Marleen McAffee of Orem, UT; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by Nola Hopkins, Daniel Hopkins, Elna Hopkins, Bob Hopkins, Brent Hopkins, Jean Harris, Tina Hopkins, and Joseph Maravilla.

Private family services will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.

Burial will be in the Cache Clawson Cemetery, Tetonia, ID.
