They appear in the 1870 census of Polk Township, Marshall County, Indiana. He was a laborer with no children at home. Elizabeth's parents and siblings were in the next residence. In the 1880 Jefferson, Kosciusko County, Indiana, census, Elisabeth Lavender is listed as a widow with her two children living next door to Henry Wehrly.
She married 2nd on September 26, 1880, Nappanee, Indiana, to Jonathan J. Yarian.
