On Sunday, December 27, 2020, Judy Gail (West) Young, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 57.
Judy was born on August 30th, 1963 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Bob and Jewell (McCully) West. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1985, and her Master of Education degree from Northeastern State University in 1990. She taught Elementary Music for nine years in the Locust Grove school system. On June 29, 1991, she married John Eric Young. They raised one son, Connor Eric Clifford Young.
Judy was a woman of many talents and abilities. She was a gifted pianist and had a beautiful, strong voice. She sang in countless weddings and funerals over the years, using her musical skills to help people in the best and worst of times. She served faithfully in the church as long as she could, not only as a musician, but as a Sunday School teacher, wedding coordinator, and in many other ways as the Spirit led her. Judy loved children and left behind her teaching career to raise her son Connor, providing him the best environment she possibly could as he grew up. Judy had a gift for design and color and was always able to decorate a home or church beautifully. Judy was extremely friendly and engaging, with a beautiful, joyful laugh and infectious sense of humor. She was known for being empathetic and compassionate. She had a great wealth of common sense as well as a strong sense of justice and morality, a quality that served her well throughout her life. Judy was an extremely dutiful daughter. She was always willing to help her parents as they journeyed through their twilight years and illnesses. Judy’s strong character carried her through many difficult times as she journeyed through breast cancer for nine years while continuing to serve her family.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Bob, and her mother, Jewell. She is survived by her husband John, her son Connor and daughter-in-law Jordan, her brother David, sister-in-law Kathy, several cousins, a niece, and nephews.
