John Ransom, 72 of Kearney passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Bethany Homes in Minden, NE. Private Family Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 2, 2020 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney with Pastor Mitch Ivey officiating. Interment will follow at Kearney Cemetery. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services.
John Robert Ransom was born December 19, 1948 in Kearney, Nebraska to Gene and Bonnie (Montgomery) Ransom. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1967. After graduating from Kearney State College, he moved to Alliance, NE where he worked for Lampert Building Center. John later returned to Kearney where he worked for West Company, Winnelectric and Ask Suppy.
John attended Grace Fellowship Church. He enjoyed camping, boating, trains and bible study with brothers and sisters of the Lord.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Jackie Mercer and husband, Steve of Kearney; sister-in-law, Ruth Ransom of Franklin; nieces and nephews, Chad Mercer and wife, Angie, Karl and wife, Karena all of Kearney, Jennifer Trompke and husband, Jerry, Patricia Schurman and husband, Ed and Terri Wenninghoff all of Franklin, NE;
John was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; and brother, Jim Ransom.
