Reported age at time of death was 18 months, so if accurate, evidently born in late 1854.

Mary Jane Galer's "COLUMBUS, GA: Lists of People, 1828-1852, and Sexton's Reports to 1866" (2000), p. 206, shows: a child of Mr. BORDERS died aged 18 months of teething and was buried 18 JUL 1856 (from "July 1 to October 1, 1856, Sexton's Report," dated 13 OCT 1856. The sexton then was Thomas NIX). John H. Martin’s “History of Columbus,” Part 2 (1875), p. 92, confirms this record.

A newspaper obituary shows that this is a child of A. L. and C. C. BORDERS that died, aged 1 year, in Columbus, on 18 JUL 1856. They are evidently Augustine L. & Cornelia (OSBORNE) BORDERS, who married 05 AUG 1845 in Harris County, Georgia.

This grave is evidently not identifiably marked. It is probably in the same lot where the mother has a marked grave, which is Lot 44 of Section F in Dolores Autry's "Historic Linwood Cemetery" book (edited by Lea Dowd et al.), Volume 2. This family lot apparently takes in Lots 215 and 215 1/2 in Section 2, and also quite possibly Lot 154 1/2 of the Letter A addition, on the city plan of Linwood Cemetery. City 2-515 was purchased by William OSBORNE (date and price of purchase not reported), and 2-515 1/2 was purchased 13 FEB 1873 (price not reported) for Mrs. A. L. BORDERS. No owner seems to be recorded for city A-154 1/2. This is a fenced lot in which the maternal grandmother, Rhoda Clark (SMITH) OSBORN, also has a marked grave. There is an infant-sized brick ledger, currently marked with a white-marble urn, that could be this child. The maternal grandfather, Col. William C. OSBORN, died in 1868 and is reported to be buried in the Old Cemetery section. However, that may be an error, and he may actually be in this fenced lot with his wife. Wherever it is, his grave apparently has no inscribed marker on it.
