Gary served Claiborne Parish as a Deputy Sheriff for 25 years. He was the owner of Lewis Construction, building numerous residential and commercial structures in his many years of building. Gary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Homer, LA, serving most recently as Chairman of the Trustees during the renovation of the sanctuary and remodeling of the parsonage. He also served on the Claiborne Academy Board of Directors. Gary served on the Salem Cemetery Board for many years and as the chairman of the Gilgal Water System during a system wide upgrade several years ago.
Gary loved deer hunting and enjoyed many years as a member of the Sunnyside Hunting Club. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Ann Lewis Freeman.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 27 years, Joellyn Foster Lewis; one daughter, Rebecca Lewis Holloway and husband Stewart of Pineville, LA; two grandsons, Zachary and Evan; one brother, Terry Lewis and wife Kathy of Three Creeks, AR; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers honoring Gary, his family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church of Homer, LA, First Baptist Church of Pineville’s Debt Retirement Fund, or the donor’s choice.
