On December 8, 2020, Jack's eighty-five-year journey ended, a victim of the Corona Virus.
Jack was born on the 4th of April 1935 to Mollie Pitsch Carter and Gus W. Carter. Jack spent his formative years in Fort Collins. He loved spending as much time as possible with Grandma and Grandpa Pitsch on the farm, learning all he could. His first summer job was baling hay at a farm in Mesa County.
Jack graduated from Fort Collins High School with the class of 1953. One of his fondest memories was being a member of the AA State Football Championship Team in 1952. Jack attended the University of Colorado (Boulder), graduating with a BS in Accounting in May 1957. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and served as Chapter President. While at CU, he met his future wife, Marian Glantz. They married on December 26, 1957.
In the summer of 1957 Jack received his draft notice and entered the US Army where he served in the 5th Army Finance Office in Chicago, Illinois. Following the service, Jack, who had been admitted to the American Institute of Certified Accountants in 1963, worked for Arthur Young Company in Chicago and Denver. He also later served as Treasurer of Riss & Company before starting he own CPA Practice in the mid 1960's. Jack always looked forward to tax season when he could visit with his clients whom he considered friends. He always looked forward to the end of tax season when he and his children and grandchildren; three of whom were also CPAs, met in Las Vegas to try their luck at dice. He continued his practice until his death.
Jack will forever be loved and missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, two great grandchildren as well as his many relatives and friends.
Preceding Jack in death are his parents, Gus and Mollie and sister, Joan E. Carter.
