US Congressman. He was admitted to the bar in 1914 and commenced law practice in Alexandria, Louisiana. During World War I, he served as a US Army 1st Lieutenant of Field Artillery in the 87th Division. After the war, he served as District Attorney of the ninth judicial district of Louisiana from 1920 to 1933. In 1933, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third and Seventy-fourth Congresses, serving until 1937. A unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law and was appointed judge of the ninth judicial district court of Louisiana in 1941, serving until his death.
