Steve was born on February 1, 1954 in Waukegan, Illinois to the late Herbert Wells and Marjorie Hiatt Franklin. He is preceded in death by two siblings, David Samuel Franklin and Susan Franklin Taylor.
Steve was a big family man, full of wit and sarcasm, love and happiness.
He will be missed by his wife and companion for over 40 years, Vickie M. Franklin; their children, Joseph Franklin (Shannyn) of Kenosha, WI, Batrisha Runnells (Eric) LaPorte, TX, Steven J. Franklin (Sandi) of Buffalo, NY, Sabrina Magedanz (Joe) of Sanford, NC and Matthew Franklin (Yana) of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren, Max Franklin, Kailey Franklin, Tristan Runnells, Maggie Franklin, and Ethan Runnells; siblings, John L. Franklin, Jill Ramirez, Pamela Franklin, Lee Ann Pierce and Jeffery Franklin; many nieces and nephews, friends and family.
Steve loved working in his yard and being outside as much as possible. When he wasn’t outside you could always find him in the kitchen cooking a delicious meal or reading a good book. He had a passion for guns of all kinds and politics. He will be missed by all who knew him.
There will be a graveside service honoring Steve on Monday, January 4, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Bragg with a visitation at Adcock Funeral Home and Crematory in Spring Lake prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
