Lucy Jane Jones was born on October 18, 1943, in Harrisburg, Pa to the union of late Sollie Butts and Emma (Harris) Butts. Lucy passed away on August 10, 2020 at the age of 76.
She received her formal education in the Harrisburg City Schools and graduated from the former William Penn Senior High. She worked for many years outside the home while living in Harrisburg and Maryland.
Lucy was united in holy matrimony to John Albert Jones II. To this union three children were born, Leslie Jones, John Albert Jones lll, and Toi Jones Mejia.
Lucy had a heart of gold. She loved deeply, unselfishly, and without expectations. God gifted her with the unconditional love of her husband, siblings, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a talented singer, truth teller and trusted friend. She was loved and admired by so many for her tough love and grandma hands.
In addition to her parents, Lucy is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Alice (Butts) Talley, brother, Eugene Butts, brothers-in-laws Reginald Wilson, Dr. John M. Williams and granddaughter Tyrita Penn.
Lucy leaves to celebrate her life and cherish memories of her and profit from her wisdom, her husband, John Albert Jones II of Baltimore, Maryland; her children, Leslie Jones of Harrisburg, Toi Jones Mejia of Baltimore, Maryland and John Albert Jones lll of Etowah, Tennessee; her grandchildren Jamillah Rushing, Shawn Cannon, Shanice Lawson, Tatiana Penn, Lanaysha Lawson, Shydasha Jones. Ebony Penn, Jhady Lawson, Tacore Penn, Amillyon Jones and Davonne Lawson; and 15 great grandchildren; her siblings, Lewis (Margaret ) Butts of Harrisburg, Dr. Barbara Butts Williams of Minneapolis, Vincent Butts, Minister Carista Wilson, Andre Butts and brother-in-law Raymond Talley Sr. (Mary Alice) all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
