James Herron Rushing, Sr. age 82 passed away December 24, 2020 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born September 2, 1938 in Jackson, TN, the son of the late Albert Neal and Carrie Walker Rushing. He was a 1956 graduate of Northside High School. He married Barbara Lee Mayfield, January 27, 1957 and they made their home in Jackson. He was a pipefitter for GM&O Railroad for twenty-eight years. He then worked for City Lumber Company, retiring after twenty years. He also maintained a farm. He served in the TN National Guard for many years.

He liked to hunt and fish and was an active member of the Poplar Heights Baptist Church as long as he was physically able. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Rushing is survived by his wife, Barbara Lee Mayfield Rushing of Jackson; three daughters, Kathy Henley (Bill) of Henderson, Kimbra Lynn Stanfield (Michael) of Mercer and Karen Climer (Teddy) of Jackson; three grandchildren, Robin Salvador, Jonathan Reece and Erin Smith; seven great grandchildren, Mason Stanfield, Byron Salvador, Leslie Salvador, Nathan Salvador, Jacob Salvador, Dakota Stanfield and J.W. Smith; a brother, Dan Rushing of Jackson and a sister, Nancy Williams of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Rushing, Jr.; two brothers, Chester Rushing and Richard Rushing and two sisters, Dorothy Wilson and Annette McNeal.

Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Monday, December 28th at Rushing Family Cemetery in Jackson with Bro. Jeff Daniel officiating.
