He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in DeKalb, MS.
First, he married Doris Marie Brown, the daughter of Gus Cole and Marie Mosley Brown, who was also a native of Kemper County, MS in September 1951. Six children, four sons and two daughters, were born to their union.
Secondly, he married Christine Bonner Thames, the daughter of Jordan Bonner and Jannie Ellen Pearson Bonner, who was a native of Meridian, Lauderdale County, MS. No children were born to their union.
"Bully" believed in hard work and being an active and productive citizen. He worked the 40 acres family farm in the New Hope Community and was blessed and fortunate enough to raise livestock and grow fruits and vegetables. He was employed with the Kemper County School System until he retired.
He died December 26, 2020, at the age of 90.

"Tannie" Coleman, Herman "Lottie" Coleman, Jr., Curtis Coleman, and Mary Overby; the Paternal Grandson of Archie " Arch" Coleman and Zillie Keeton Coleman; and the Maternal Grandson of Jim D. Stennis and Madora McWilliams Stennis.
