Inge Helene Christina Rehm was born February 12, 1940, in Stettin, Germany, to Hermann and Gertrud (Woitha) Rehm. In December 1950, at age ten, she immigrated with her family to the United States aboard the Stockholm . After graduating from Clinton High School, Inge served in the WAVES, the US Naval Women's Reserve. Following her honorable discharge, she held jobs as a sewing instructor, car-hop, and bindery worker. She married Bernhard J. "Benny" Schnack on April 16, 1966, in Clinton, Iowa. The couple farmed in rural Grand Mound until retirement in 1993. Benny preceded her in death February 25, 2013.

Inge was a wonderful cook and contributed to several local cookbooks. She loved gardening, dancing, flowers, and cats. She was a private person but very fun loving. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and help take care of them.
