Edward Jordan “Jord” Morgan, 84, passed away peacefully in Slingerlands, NY on December 22, 2020.

A beloved, husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle, Ed is survived by his wife Mary Alice (Conners) Morgan, children Edward R. Morgan (Yvette), Margaret Morgan Weichert, Mary Elizabeth Anne Schroeder (Steve), his sister Diane Morgan, and 6 grandchildren: Jordan Morgan Sylla, James Weichert, Emily Schroeder, Edward Alexander Morgan, Andrew Weichert, and Alice Schroeder. He also is survived by a loving extended family including the Morgan, Conners, Harrigan, Colangione/Baskin, Martin and Conners/Noe Families.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Edward and Sarah (Drury) Morgan of Menands NY.

A native of Menands, NY, Edward graduated from the Vincentian Institute (VI) before receiving university degrees from Stonehill College (BA), Siena College (MA), Union College (MS) and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (MS).

He enjoyed an early career as a teacher at St. Gregory’s School in Loudonville and at Colonie Central High School.

Later, after receiving a master’s degree in chemistry, Edward went on to serve as a chemist and executive in the Office of General Services for the State of New York.

A longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church/Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Colonie, Ed’s life was framed by service to his community and his parish.

Edward spent decades supporting the work of service organizations including the St. Vincent de Paul Society, The Umbrella Program and Christ Our Light Food Pantry. He was a mentor and “big brother” to at-risk youth, as well as a tutor for English as a Second Language (ESL) students.

An outdoor enthusiast, Edward loved hiking and canoeing in the Adirondacks with family and friends, as well as camping with his children and spending time at the beach on Cape Cod or in Maine with family. He also was an accomplished dancer who enjoyed round dancing with Mary Alice and many of the great friends they made through dancing.

More than anything Edward was a devoted paterfamilias who cared for and supported his family unconditionally. He will be greatly missed.
