Aunt Judy was the daughter of Thomas Harold Stephenson and Geraldine Edna Davis. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Maplewood, New Jersey. She was married in 1961 and they raised three children in New Kensington, Pennsylvania.


She was educated at the University of Pittsburgh and Duke University, and was an educator for nearly 40 years in nurse education. She taught medical-surgical nursing at DePaul Hospital School of Nursing in Norfolk, Virginia (1963-1964), Citizen's General Hospital School of Nursing in New Kensington (1966-1972), and Carlow College in Pittsburgh (1974-1976). She chaired the nursing department at Butler County Community College in Pennsylvania from 1976-1982, then served the college as Dean for Institutional Research from 1982-1990. She set up the Nurse Practitioner graduate program at Edinboro (1991-2002) and educated its first students. She retired from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2002, becoming an Emeritus Associates Professor of Nursing.
