Betty Jo was born in Drumright, OK, and came to California as a young woman. In 1963, she met and married the love of her life, Donald J. Harris Sr., who preceded her in death in 2006. She brought Christianity into her husband’s life. Together they helped build First Christian Church which later became Crossroads Christian Church where she remained active. She led women’s Bible Study for decades and often said she had been left behind because she had more to teach of Scripture. She loved The Word.
She was an outstanding seamstress, making her trademark matching outfits for her and her husband.
Betty Jo is greatly missed by her family and friends but we find comfort in knowing she is home with her adoring husband and the Lord.
Betty Jo’s survivors include her step-daughters, Nancy Jean Hunter (Ron) of Reno, Paula Gail Johnson, of Salinas, and step-son, Donald James Harris Jr. (Patty), of Cincinnati, Ohio. Her loving niece, Jo Hatfield (Keith) of Calipatria. Her sister, Pat White of Sapulpa, OK, brother Joe Hague (Peggy) of Jenks, OK, as well as nine grandchildren and nine great grand-daughters. She also leaves behind her entire Church Family, whom she also loved deeply and unconditionally. Her sister, Sylvia, predeceased her in death in 2015.
Funeral Services will take place on Monday, October 12, 2015 11am at the Crossroads Christian Church 1035 Rogge Road Salinas, CA 93907.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Betty Jo’s honor to the Crossroads Christian Church.
