Son of Eugene and Louise Jones Thomas. He was retired from the City of Gainesville where he worked as a sewer construction superintendent. He was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Dianne Latty; brother, Jerry Thomas; and sister, Betty Jean Peck. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Thomas; sons, Russ Thomas and Eric (Tracy) Thomas; daughters, Jamie (Bart) Buffington, Gloria Duncan, and Emily (Don) Allan; sister-in-law, Nora Thomas; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
