Cody Jermaine McGrew was born on January 20, 1983 in Natchez, Mississippi to Herman McGrew and Mildred Webster.

Cody was educated in the Natchez-Adams School District, while in high school McGrew was a proud member of the Natchez High School Marching Band, baseball team, and a member of numerous other school and community organizations. In 2001 Cody graduated with honors from Natchez High School and furthered his education by attending Copiah Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Mississippi.
Cody would later attend Jackson State University where he was a member of the Sonic Boom of South and the cheerleader squad.

In May 2008, Cody received the Bachelors of Science Degree in Mass Communication. After graduating from JSU, Cody later moved to Dallas, Texas to attend medical school.
Cody enjoyed shopping, traveling, and eating good food. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He always had a story to tell.
He made his transition on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Cody leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. His laughter, love, and compassion spread to everyone he knew.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his father, Herman McGrew of Natchez, MS; his loving and caring mother Mildred Webster and step-father, Leroy Webster of Jackson, MS; (3) brothers, Zharqui Harris of Natchez, MS; Nicolas McGrew & Brian McGrew both of Jackson, MS; three sisters, LaTasha Carradine of Natchez, MS, Crystal McGrew Jurden (Mark) and Brandy McGrew Jones (Michael) both of Jackson, MS.
