Jimmy Wayne Dodds, 95, a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons, died at 4:44 p,m., Friday, December 18, 2020 at Labette Health.

He was born December 7, 1925, in Parsons, to Charles L. and Kate E. “Harris” Dodds and was the seventh of their ten children. He graduated from Parsons High School and was drafted into military service during World War. He served in the United States Army and was sent overseas, stationed in England, France and Belgium and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

Throughout his adult life he was employed at the Katy Railroad as a carman. He was a member of the First Christian Church, the Brown-Bishop Post # 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees.

Jimmy Wayne was married to Patricia “Pattie” Jobe on April 17, 1953 at Bentonville, AR. She preceded him in death on August 25, 1995.

He and June (Gray) Curtis were married in Parsons on October 30, 2015. She survives. Other survivors include his son Charles “Charlie R. Dodds of Oklahoma City, OK, four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A sister, Jeanette Shepler, survives, of Wichita.

Jimmy was preceded in death by brothers Lester M. Dodds, Charles R. Dodds, Lloyd Dodds and sisters Norma Cuddy, Ruth James, Bonnie Sissel, Virginia Beard and Imogene Leslie.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Oakwood Cemetery, with Rev. Laurie Lewis officiating. A flag presentation will be given by the Brown-Bishop Post # 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
