Robert Lee “Bob” Andrews, Sr., 89, of Chambersburg, passed away, peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his family. Bob was born on Tuesday, January 29, 1924 in St. Thomas, PA the son of the late John H. and Cora (Horn) Andrews. Early on he worked as a truck driver for Charles W. Karper, a job he truly loved. Later, he worked at Binghams Orchards, Gillans Orchards and became co-owner of Appleway Orchards. He was a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church and active in the St. Thomas Ruritan. Bob worked as the St. Thomas supervisor from 1976-1980 and was president of the Horticulture Society. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family. Bob is survived by his wife, Mabel (Hartman) Andrews; two daughters: Barbara (Mrs. Lee) Brohawn, Suzanne (Mrs. Chris) Johnston; two sons: James E. (husband of Wanda) Andrews, Allan D. (husband of Becky) Andrews, fourteen grandchildren: Toni, James, Kevin, Keith, Devery, Andy, Jonathon, Stephanie, Jennifer, Allan, Chad, Cherish, Chantel, Amanda; 22 great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Andrews, Jr. and five brothers and two sisters. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Portner officiating. There will be a Visitation held at the William F. Sellers Funeral Home in Chambersburg on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 2pm to 4pm. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
