Barbara Elaine McCullers was born on 15 June 1942 to Robert Leonard McCullers and Vera Lorene Fennell in Hartford Connecticut. She had three siblings; James Michael, Doris Norma and Jeffrey Leonard.
She married Charles "Roy" Matthews on 15 April 1959, and had four children; Charles Jr (and wife Maggie), Tina Marie (and husband Rex); David Alan (and wife Tammie) and Bryan Keith (and wife Nancy). She had two adapted sons; John (a grandson and wife Tiffany) and Thomas Elliott (and wife Kimberly). Barb and Roy have 6 grandchildren; Aaron, Kalem, John, Julie, David Jr, Charles,; 5 adopted grand children; Rhyanna, Heather, Nathan, Mickey, and Missie; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of great-great grandchildren and foster children.
Barb and Roy lived in IL, FL and MO during their 56years together. She worked several jobs during her life, but her career was a mother and grandmother.

She devoted her life to her family and God and spent her 78 years on this earth caring for numerous children as a foster parent and homemaker. When she didn't have a baby in her lap or a child running around the house, Barbara could be found reading her study bible, in prayer with the lord, or visiting with any one of her numerous children and grandchildren. Her passage was fitting of a life well loved; surrounded by her children, with humor, laughter, and joy, in celebration of her life and in her family home in Long Lane, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2020 in the Chief Cornerstone Church at 2009 S. Ash Street, Buffalo, Missouri, 65622 with Pastor Bob Davidson officiating. Escorts will be Chuck Matthews, Thomas Matthews, Charlie Matthews, Tyler Matthews, Danny Spradling, Kenneth Moore, Rex Wilson, and Aaron Matthews. Interment will be in the Riverview Sweaney Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of America.
