Obituary from flammfh.com:
H. Weston Lawrence, 92, of Rexburg passed away Tuesday December 22, 2020 in Rexburg Idaho. He was born February 21, 1928, in Ogden, Utah to Harold William Lawrence and Thelma Crowther Lawrence. He joined his sister Elaine, and the family later expanded to include siblings Mary, Norma, Bill, Evelyn, and Ruth. They lived for a short time in Malad and then Downey before the family moved to Rexburg.
He went to work for KRXK radio station selling advertising to businesses up and down the valley. After working for the radio station for many years, he moved into the Real Estate business and sold real estate for the remainder of his working years, eventually earning his broker's license.
Dad married Lila Stucki on August 12, 1949 in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they had 6 children, Linda, J'lene, Kerry, Kathryn, Lisa and Jean.
Dad loved to play and watch sports. He played basketball and football for Madison High School. After an injury in a football game, he was limited to kick-offs and field goals. He also played varsity basketball at Madison High School for three years, after which he was recruited to play college basketball for several Universities. He chose to stay local and played basketball for Ricks College from 1948-1952, when it was a 4-year school.
Dad loved to hunt and fish. Anywhere there was a body of water, he wondered if there were fish in it. He loved to fish, especially for Salmon and Steelhead. A few years ago, he went on a fishing trip to Alaska with his brother Bill, where he caught a 50-pound King Salmon and became a member of the "Fifty-pound Club".
He was a champion gardener and raised a large garden every year to feed his growing family. In later years after the family had grown and left home, he shared his extra produce by putting it in a box near the weeping willow tree in his front yard, for anyone who wanted it.
When Mom and Dad were on their honeymoon to Banff, they rented a tandem bike and found it to be so much fun that they later purchased one for their 10th anniversary. They decorated their bike and entered it in the 4th of July parade for several years, with their last parade ride just 4 years ago.
In 2003, Dad and Mom were presented with the Distinguished Emeritus Service Award for Ricks College, now BYU-Idaho. This award was presented for the service they provided in the community as well as to the university. Dad was also an active member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers for several years.
He was a charter member of the Rexburg Kiwanis Club and took pride in his perfect attendance record of 62 years. He was awarded the Kiwanis Lifetime Achievement Award this fall. He loved to meet with his friends in the Kiwanis Club and continued to attend meetings until a few weeks ago. He served as Kiwanis Club President and has held several other positions in the Club over the years.
Wes is survived by his sister Elaine Coates, brother Bill Lawrence (Sally), sister Ruth Woodward (Rodger), children: J'lene Schick (Dean), Kerry Lawrence (Bonnie), Kathryn Nielson (David), Lisa Lawrence, Jean Shippen (Trent), 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, his wife Lila, his daughter Linda Martin, a grandson Kenton Martin, and four preemie great-grand babies.
Private family Funeral services will be held December 31st at 11:00 am. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, and to keep us all safe, we welcome all others to join us through a Zoom meeting.
